Policy: Circulation of Materials

BOT Approved: March 15 2017

NOTE: As of May 2020, the Library is in fine amnesty mode. We are not imposing fines on most items that are past due. We are still charging fees and costs for lost and missing items.

PURPOSE

Library materials are available for loan. The total number of items that can be checked out per patron card is determined by borrower type.

POLICY

Overdue charges shall be set by the Trustees. Materials which have been “willfully detained” may be pursued according to the New Hampshire RSA 202-A: 25.

Items may be reserved for pickup. Reserved items will be held for 3 days before being returned to the shelf.

Loan privileges by material type are defined as follows:

* Please see note

* A Fine Free Account does not generate late fees except on Interlibrary Loan items and Museum passes. If an item is “late” the account is blocked until that item is returned, but no fines are accrued except as mentioned. If an item is kept until the computer generates an “Item Lost” status then the patron is charged for the full cost of replacement plus the $2.50 processing fee.
