Solar Eclipse 2024

SEAL: Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries

Beginning Monday, March 25, the Rodgers Library will offer FREE solar glasses to all patrons with an active library card, courtesy of SEAL (Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries), a project of the STAR Library Network, which helps libraries engage their communities with the upcoming solar eclipse occurring on Monday, April 8.

Watch our Circulation Librarian Dana Benner explain the program in detail.

To obtain your FREE glasses, please follow the guidelines below:

  • Visit the library in person with your active library card to be eligible to receive two (2) pairs of solar eclipse glasses.
    • Glasses will be checked out to adults and older children only. Children under the age of 13 are not eligible to receive glasses.
    • A maximum of six (6) glasses per household.
  • You must visit the library to obtain your glasses. Due to limited supply, we are not able to hold glasses over the phone or via email.
  • Your library card must be active. If your library card has expired, bring your card and proof of residency and ID and we will renew your card for 2 years.
  • No library card? No problem! All Hudson residents and people who work in Hudson are eligible for a FREE library card. Residents may visit the library with their ID and proof of residency to obtain their card. People who work in Hudson need to provide ID and their latest paystub.
  • Supplies are limited. Glasses will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

Families are welcome to join us to watch the eclipse and celebrate this special event with a science explanation and a snack! Eclipse glasses will be provided. Registration is required so we can provide everyone with solar eclipse glasses. Space is limited, so register here!
